Tamika Catchings is in her 13th season playing for the WBNA’s Indiana Fever. She was honored as MVP of the 2012 WNBA Finals and was Defensive Player of the Year in 2005. At Tennessee, Catchings led the Lady Vols to the NCAA 1998 tournament, where they won the national championship over Louisiana Tech. She graduated with a degree in sports management. The 6-1 forward is also a three-time Olympic Gold Medalist.
She is also a three-time WNBA Community Assist Award winner. During the off-season, Catchings is involved in several community activities. In 2004, she created the Catch the Stars Foundation, Inc., an organization dedicated to providing youth with mentoring programs targeted at promoting fitness and literacy. She has also been a participant in First Lady Michelle Obama’s “Let’s Move” campaign in Des Moines, Iowa.
Vision 2020 salutes Catchings for representing its National Goal of women in leadership positions.
