Beverly Bond is a celebrity DJ and the creator of Black Girls Rock!, Inc., a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering African-American girls through mentoring programs, events, arts education, public service and cultural exploration.
After graduating from acting school in 1999, Bond went on to pursue a career as a DJ. She began working as a DJ for celebrity clients including Diesel, Chanel, ESPN’s X-Games Awards, and Prince. In 2006, the actress turned DJ decided to pursue another dream and started Black Girls Rock!, for inner-city girls between the ages of 12-17. Bond used her love for the arts to create musical education programs including “I Rhyme Like a Girl” and “Taste the World.”
In 2010, Bond partnered with BET to create the Black Girls Rock! Award which has honored actress Keke Palmer and Ravene-Symone. Today, she continues to receive awards of her own, including the “Obama: THAT ONE!” Pre-Inaugural Awards gala in Washington, D.C.
Vision 2020 recognizes Bond for exemplifying its National Goal of women in executive leadership positions.
