In 2012, Tia Norfleet made history when she became the first African-American woman to become a licensed NASCAR driver. Inspired by her father Bobby Norfleet, a former NASCAR driver, began pursuing her dream at in 2010. Today, the 24-year old wears the number 34 in honor of Wendell Scott, the first African-American to win the Sprint Cup Series. When she is off the track, Norfleet gives back to the community by participating in the Driver to Read program, which encourages elementary school students to increase their reading proficiency.
Vision 2020 honors Norfleet for representing its National Goal of women in shared leadership positions.
