Women Who Bring Equality in Sight- Linda Newton

Linda NewtonLinda Newton serves as a senior consultant specializing in leadership development, culture change, and the strategic use of community relations and diversity for Rhode Island’s organization, Leading Women. This organization focuses on advancing women onto corporate boards by educating women on how to attain these positions within their organizations and by advising organizations on strategies to remove gender biases.  Leading Women has several corporate partners including Burger King, Sunoco, and Kodak.

 Newton has over 25 years of experience in the health insurance industry as Vice President of Community Relations, CSR and Diversity for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, where she created strategies for diversity within the business.  Among her many accomplishments, in 2009, her program the BlueAngel Community Outreach, won the Providence Business News, Business Excellence Award for Community Involvement.

As community service is important to Newton, she also serves on the board of the Rhode Island Community Food Bank and Rhode Island Kids Count. In 2012 United Way recognized her with the John H. Chafee Lifetime Service Award.

Vision 2020 Rhode Island Delegate and Founder and CEO of Leading Women, Susan Colantuono, nominated Linda Newton as a woman who brings equality in sight for her exemplary work  in the advancement of women in leadership positions.
