Vision 2020 Visionary Delegate Carolyn Mazure and Connecticut Delegates Jo Dutcher and Nandini Sharma co-hosted a day-long conference with the Permanent Commission on the Status of Women (PCSW) in the State Capitol Building of Hartford, CT on September 15. CT Women: Be The Change You Want to See convened allies and women leaders from across the state to collaborate in new ways to advance women’s economic and social equality by the year 2020, the centennial anniversary of women’s right to vote.
Conference-goers listened to the state’s only female representative in Congress, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, and the state comptroller Kevin Lembo. The morning programming was followed by a networking opportunity over lunch, where 200 plus attendees were able to exchange information and ideas.
The afternoon consisted of break-out sessions with panel discussions that ranged from economic security to increasing women’s representation in senior leadership, to new ways to collaborate and influence change. Penn Mutual, Vision 2020’s Presenting Sponsor and sponsor of the Connecticut conference, was a highlighted resource in the economic security panel for its website, Worth for Women, which assists women in planning their financial future.
Be The Change was an inspirational day as collaboration and hard work joined together so harmoniously. The energy in the room was contagious: a united, diverse force of women and men all exhibiting steadfast dedication to advancing women’s equality in CT.
