During Vision 2020’s American Conversation about Women and Leadership in October 2010, one of the Conversation topics was Communication & Media. During this discussion, some of the issues covered were having more women sources quoted in news stories, hearing more women’s voices on the op-ed pages, and creating an equal newsroom.
Next month some of the world’s most powerful women in media will come together to launch the official “Global Report on Women in the News Media.” The conference will be lead by the International Women’s Media Foundation of George Washington University. Women media executive will be joining forces to facilitate diversity in countries where women do not have an equal voice in the newsroom. Analysis of salaries, opportunities and career advancement will be judged by representatives visiting from countries such as China, Argentina and South Africa.
Attendees include ABC News Anchor Diane Sawyer, NPR CEO Vivian Schiller, Hu Shuli Editor-in-Chief of Caixin.
